What HB 822 Does

House Bill 822 requires schools, health care providers, and child care providers to notify parents within 72 hours when a minor student requests help facilitating a social transition — including requests to use a different name, pronouns, bathrooms, locker rooms, or sports teams than those aligned with the student's sex at birth.

Institutions that fail to notify parents face civil penalties of up to $100,000. Sponsor: Rep. Bruce Skaug (R-Nampa, District 10B). Co-sponsored by House Speaker Mike Moyle and Senate President Pro Tem Kelly Anthon.
