What H 831 Does
House Bill 831 prohibits certain in-person instruction in Idaho schools on election day. Schools would need to close in-person instruction or shift to remote/virtual learning on primary and general election days.
Proponents argue school closures increase poll worker availability (teachers and staff) and make it easier for parents to vote. Opponents raise concerns about school day disruption and childcare burdens on working families.
