CDA Council Rams Through Fireworks Ordinance With a Built-In Presumption of Guilt — Admits It's "Half-Baked"

Passed 7-0 under suspension of rules three weeks before July 4th. Police can now cite you based on your neighbor's fireworks debris. Council member Wood called it half-baked on the record. Three of the council members who voted yes had already privately questioned whether the ordinance's author should be trusted at all -- and the local press missed every bit of it.

Unanimous vote -- under suspension of normal rules -- three weeks before July 4th

Officers needed to witness who lit fireworks -- debris on your property is now evidence against you

What Los Angeles paid in settlements after their total fireworks ban went wrong. CDA's staff report said "no financial impact."

Idaho legislators are sent to Boise to represent the people who elected them. The 2026 session produced 81 days of votes on immigration, education, elections, and the state budget. Every vote is permanent. Every name is on record. The May 19 primary results are in. See who voters held accountable -- and where we still have work to do. The Idaho Ledger will be tracking the 2027 session the same way.

01
We Track the Legislature
Every bill, every vote, every name -- recorded with full context. When a senator votes to spend your money or restrict your rights, it goes on the record here. Searchable, shareable, permanent.
02
We Investigate
Public records requests. FOIA fights. Documents the city hoped you'd never see. When government spends taxpayer money or makes decisions behind closed doors, we file for the records and publish what we find.
03
The Record Follows Them
Bad votes. Broken promises. Backroom deals. Every document filed today is evidence waiting for election day. Idaho officials have nowhere to hide from their own record.
