What H 560 Does

House Bill 560 allows prospective jurors who are called for jury duty to volunteer as poll workers on election day in lieu of serving on a jury — in certain circumstances when elections coincide with jury duty obligations.

This addresses a practical problem: Idaho often struggles to recruit enough poll workers, while courts simultaneously call large jury pools. This bill allows civic-minded citizens to serve their community through election work rather than jury duty.

Sponsor: Rep. Joe Alfieri (R-Coeur d'Alene, District 4A). Delivered to Governor March 18, 2026.
